Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, good on ice and snow Bought these based on their rating for safety on ice. They are good. I would like to see a women's style for I had to buy men's as I was looking for safety and there are not many styles that rated well on Rate My Treads

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best winter boot I've owned I purchased this shoe in December (over 2 months ago). I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I live in Ottawa where we regularly have temperature falling below -20. That coupled with freezing rain, icy conditions are part of everyday life here. I've fallen almost every year - black ice, unclean driveways etc and got tired of paying $$ for physio. So, I've decided on investing in the best and I can certainly say that I'm not disappointed. The traction on these shoes is amazing - I'm not saying you can't slip but it minimizes it a great deal. The only drawback in the top of the shoe seems not very durable - I'm already seeing it wear. All that being said, I'd buy it in a heartbeat again. In fact, I convinced my wife to also buy a similar shoe for her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the superb grip on ice instills confidence It was the middle of winter when I ordered the boots; I just got tired of slipping and sliding. I walk up and down an icy hill every day in winter so I need traction. The soles immediately offered amazing grip and confidence on ice. There was no break-in period: they fit true to size, they're comfortable and they grip. I wear size 9-9.5 and I chose 9.5 because I would be wearing a slightly thicker sock in winter. I did not fully appreciate how much grip the soles had until one day, when most of the ice was gone, I put a different pair of winter boots and nearly landed on my head. There's something different and special with the Vibram Arctic Grip chemistry that makes the soles grip unbelievably. It is possible to slip with Arctic Grip soles but you'd have to push the limits of common sense to do it. The boots are waterproof but I still treated them with Nikwax waterproofing as I do with all my shoes and boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfy and warm! I was shopping for a pair of shoes that offer great traction on ice and snow. The Vibram artic grip seemed promising so I decided to purchase them. However, they don't offer very good grip over dry ice especially uneven icy surfaces. They are extremely comfortable and warm but I'd still say they are a bit overpriced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boots. These boots were among only 10 winter boots that just passed the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute's non-slip testing, out of about 100 total boots tested - that sold me on them. Additionally, they're a great fit, comfortable, light weight and good looking. And although obviously not as grippy as boot spikes on wet or dry ice, they are significantly better than your average vibram hiking/trekking soles. But only just got them when the worst of the ice &snow ended. Ready for next year!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Men's Stiction Waterproof Arctic Grip Winter Boots The pluses are light weight, sleek design for a winter shoe, waterproof, breathable, warm to at least -10 C., comfortable foot bed, room for a thicker sock but not usually necessary, and superior grip -- stiction) The one negative is rubbing at the ankles unless you don't lace the topmost grommets, and tie the one beneath it loosely . You can still feel it lightly brushing but it doesn't chafe. But perhaps this is what any ankle-high shoe is like.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wearing them more than expected Bought these boots for my father for the Winnipeg winter. He is in his 70's and is loving them. No issues with snow and ice and he has been pleasantly surprised by the comfort and is wearing them more than he expected for a shorter boot.
