Altitude Waterproof Hiker is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof, separated from sole after 6 months Relatively expensive, not waterproof, and not durable. Moderately comfortable, looked OK. Worn for 3 hour hikes over 6 months. I avoided water because of the seepage. I just noticed the boot has pulled away from the sole. My old Canadian-made work boots (no steel toe) were waterproof from the factory and lasted 15 years, despite exposure to oil, cement, tar etc. I don't think the Chinese have learned to make leather footwear yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from About as waterproof as a brown paper bad 1.5 months in, and these boots are soaking my feet. Just walking through some wet grass will leave your feet drenched. That is after spraying them 3 times in 6 weeks with extra waterproofing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just Terrible. Hi-Tec sent me these boots as a replacement for another pair of hikers I originally purchased at Mark's. The original pair I purchased fell apart after 5 months and these ones did the same after around the same amount of time. I'd stay away from the Hi-Tec brand, I highly doubt that I just happened to have bad luck on both pairs of Hi-Tec boots that I owned. Not waterproof and poorly made.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A hook pulled out They seemed reasonable for an inexpensive full leather boot and fit well when I used them on a few short hikes. But after a couple months of occasional weekend use, one of the hooks at the top pulled out of the boot (badly set?), and one lace was already badly worn (likely a sharp edge on a lower eyelet). Maybe I just had bad luck but I returned them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If you want wet feet They look good. They're priced well. They're light. They have all right grip on the ice. They were poorly engineered. When a company tells me their boot is waterproof, I expect my feet to stay dry. I don't necessarily expect to be able to submerge them above the laces, but I do expect them to keep water out. My left foot got wet when my RIGHT foot stepped in a puddle and splashed some water on top of the left boot. Seriously, they're that bad. They're definitely useless when I'm riding my bike in the rain/wet (or even walking in the rain without overhanging pants), because A LOT of water gets in through the laces. Absolutely soaks my feet, and has every time. These boots are nearly useless to me, and were definitely a waste of money. NEVER had issues with my old boots, and now I can't afford a better pair, so I'm stuck getting my feet wet. Unless you only wear boots in dry weather, I would definitely not recommend these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from comfortable on the feet Good hiker, tight to the heel and stiffer sole making it easy to walk on rocks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! Comfortable, waterproof and durable. I hiked on the Camino via Francigena for over 1,000 km wearing the Hi Tech over all types of terrain this summer. They are comfortable, waterproof and durable. I never suffered any blisters or bruised toe nails wearing this pair. Though at this point some seams are broken and the heels are wearing out ,I am happy with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, but a couple of poor features The boot seems well made, with a good sole, and after a couple of walks in the rain, is keeping out the water. Two concerns however....the ortholite insole provides no arch support, and the metal, fixed, lower lace guides make it difficult to adjust the tightness of the boot. I've had boots with this type of lace guide previously, and found they quickly destroyed the laces. I would have liked to have seen them on a swivel, or made of a softer material. I've down-rated the quality rating for these two short-comings.
