Rated 1 out of 5 by from not timberland I bought these because they stopped carrying the timberland hikers I like and was told these would be the same. They are not waterproof and start to fall apart as soon as it gets cold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from falling apart I have been buying these shoes for a long time, I like how fit my feet. I am guessing that they have somehow changed the design because the last two pairs I have bought have had the leather flake and fall off early after purchase. Before, the soles would be well worn down by the time the shoe started to wear. Now the sole shows literally no signs of wear and the leather is pealing off. It is a shame. I have been a loyal customer for alot of years and now I need to find a new shoe. These are bad boots, I do not recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Boots This is my second pair. My son (same size feet) stole mine and off he went to work. The leather is thin and doesn't like to be used as work boots, so needless to say he scuffed holes in them. I treat them with waterproofing before wearing them and then regularly during the winter and they are great. Some reviews I've read indicate that they don't live up to the waterproof name, but if you treat them, there isn't a problem. I have yet to see if my second pair are as good as the first as I wore them out for a hike in one of the worst rain storms. I should have worn something else I think. I use them for snowshoeing (with gators) and never have cold or wet feet. I wear them hiking (mostly trail - no back country) and haven't had a problem yet. Great boots especially when you get them on sale. Marks has them regularly on sale, so watch for the best pricing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable Yje insoles are really glued in so not removable for use of my orthotic inserts

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof, separated from sole after 6 months Relatively expensive, not waterproof, and not durable. Moderately comfortable, looked OK. Worn for 3 hour hikes over 6 months. I avoided water because of the seepage. I just noticed the boot has pulled away from the sole. My old Canadian-made work boots (no steel toe) were waterproof from the factory and lasted 15 years, despite exposure to oil, cement, tar etc. I don't think the Chinese have learned to make leather footwear yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from About as waterproof as a brown paper bad 1.5 months in, and these boots are soaking my feet. Just walking through some wet grass will leave your feet drenched. That is after spraying them 3 times in 6 weeks with extra waterproofing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just Terrible. Hi-Tec sent me these boots as a replacement for another pair of hikers I originally purchased at Mark's. The original pair I purchased fell apart after 5 months and these ones did the same after around the same amount of time. I'd stay away from the Hi-Tec brand, I highly doubt that I just happened to have bad luck on both pairs of Hi-Tec boots that I owned. Not waterproof and poorly made.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A hook pulled out They seemed reasonable for an inexpensive full leather boot and fit well when I used them on a few short hikes. But after a couple months of occasional weekend use, one of the hooks at the top pulled out of the boot (badly set?), and one lace was already badly worn (likely a sharp edge on a lower eyelet). Maybe I just had bad luck but I returned them.
