Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features Have to have internal metguard, and have a wide foot. This boot meets those requirements. Wish they weren't so expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, zipper is nice addition On my 2nd pair, only had my 1st pair for 5-6 months because my former employer didn't tell me to bring rubber boots and I was in wet concrete for 12 hrs and completely ruined them. They were the best boots I had to date and had to get them again, and they are still going strong after a year now. The only reason they are 4/5 is because they are not waterproof.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good boot, quality materials, comfortable. I work road reconstruction so my boots take a severe beating, hoping in and out of trenches, standing in wet mud, sewage waste, sand, concrete and occasional hot asphalt. I normally get 6months out of a pair of boots at 12/hr per day but surprisingly these have lasted a whole year. Now they are split at the seam by the ankle which lets in water. Overall Im satisfied with the way these things have held up. They are waterproof for the most part unless it's over the laces. Pretty tight while driving a tad uncomfortable for a bit untill they become broken in. The zipper makes it easy to take off while leaving the laces tied. Easy to clean. Quality boot. I'm still searching for that magical boot that doesn't come apart at the seam but I'm sure I'll be buying another pair this year. These things took a grueling punishment and have been good. I guess I have to face the fact I won't get more than a year out of any boot on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots I bought these boots probably going on just over a year ago to work in a metal fabrication shop and they are awesome! The side zipper makes for super easy on/off. Ive worn these in mud and in the rain and never had issues with water getting in. The only thing that I found helped a lot is to treat them with mink oil every month or so, it really helps to keep the leather in good condition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The zippers make it all worth it I just bought my second pair of these boots today after having worn the previous pair for 2+ years as a commercial electrician on jobs from slab on grade to finishing stages. The main advantage of these boots are the side zippers. Your boots are on and off quick. Not having to tie up and undo your laces prevents having to replace them. I never replaced the laces on my last pair. You won't be squeezing your foot into your boot and uncomfortably pulling your boot off like some plastic surgical glove. Comfortableness is comparable to other Dakota boots. I've owned the Viper II 8" and the Tradesman 8". The Viper II was very comfortable but developed cracks and holes much quicker. The downside is waterproofness. If you're stepping into water higher than your toe cap, it can get it through the side zippers. I had a few quick dips and water did not come in, mind you this was infrequent as I avoided deep water and would wear rubber boots if it was expected.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from worst boots i ever owned feels like wearing two bricks on your feet. really stiff and hard soles. wore my big toes raw on top, uncomfortable feet hurt afterwards. even worse in cold weather they really stiffen up. no traction on them. wore out after the guarantee is up. ditched these for my old boots ( Dakota dragons). only reason I got these is because company said I have to have this style boot and this what was offered. sitting in my garage as I refuse to wear them at work. maybe keep them as a backup pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Grip and Support I have a hard time finding footwear that works for my feet. I am extremely flat footed and over pronate. Also add into the mix that I work in a food service environment the tile floor at work is very slippery. Especially when wet it becomes like a skating rink. I have not been able to find footwear than makes my feet happy as well as keep me on my feet by gripping very slippery floors. The tarantula grip works amazingly I would recommend it to anyone. Whether you encounter slippery conditions every day or once in awhile it's worth the try.
