Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot I've had these boots for years and loved them. I was very sad to learn they're on clearance. The price is right but I don't like any other style of boot. They shipped super fast since the store had no more stock.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me After reading other positive reviews and they were described as 'wide' fit, I was looking forward to this boot. Unfortunately, it just did not work for me. I found the padding around the ankle rough and digging into my leg and they did not walk well for me. I have a pinched nerve issue between my last 2 toes on my right foot and although these boots are roomy in the toe box, they immediately irritated my sensitive nerve issue and I have had pain flare up for the past 5 days, even though I only wore the boots around the house for 15 minutes. I had to return them to the sore. I tried on other styles at the store, but was not able to find one to suit my feet. I do think, however, that a person with normal feet and no issues and that can bear breaking in the stiff ankle tops will find this boot reasonable overall. Looks like a hiking boot, not pretty but not ugly either.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I got what I wanted I was a bit disappointed that they told me they were unavailable to order in the store only to home and find them for myself. This meant I paid for shipping on a product that was shipped from the city I live in. I would have rathered go to the store and pick them up and try them on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I've been wearing work boots for the past 23 years and these are by far the best I've ever worn. They're the only steel toe boot I don't have a "break in" phase...they're comfy right from the get go and that's why I'm really sad and frustrated that they're now discontinued! A real shame

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable! If you want sore feet and blisters on your heels, these are the boots for you. I bought them to use in various sites (surveyor) and i could not spend even 6 hours in these boots. Save your money and spend it on men's boots if your feet are on the bigger size. Much more comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from just... okay I have owned many pairs of Dakota boots in my career in cabinetry, and every pair has taken daily abuse of walking A LOT, dust, and harsh chemicals. My past pairs of boots have all been wonderful. When the time came to replace my old boots, I went for the same style of boot. The saleswoman even confirmed it was the most similar boot to the ones I already owned, almost identical, in fact. So I purchased them, thinking they would be like my previous pair. How wrong I was. When I first tried them, I had to go half a size up because the metal cap went past my pinkie toe (and properly fitted boots shouldn't do that.) Going up in size was a mistake. After the initial break in phase, which was awful due to the higher ankle (that my previous pair did not have,) bruising my shins, the back of the boot had worn away and the plastic lining behind my heel began chewing holes into my socks and giving me horrid blisters. Since I couldn't return the boots anymore, and couldn't afford new ones, I decided to raid my husband's socks, which are thicker and much more durable. That solved the heel problem. Once the padding was worn down, the boots were a bit too big, but with my husband's socks, it was a tolerable issue. I tied them snugly but I still grew some gnarly callouses to compensate for the rubbing. For the better part of 8 months, things were going well enough, no complaints, until the back of the boot, the part that gave me blisters, wore through. Actually wore through. There's a hole going through the lining, through the plastic and through the heel cover. And not a little hole, let me tell you! The width of my foot can fit through the hole, because I was bored and wanted to see if it could do that. All in all, these boots aren't bad. They're not good, but they're not bad. They lasted a little over a year, which is pretty good, considering work boots should be replaced every year if they get used every day. But there are better boots on the market then these. If it's a "these are your ONLY option" situation, they'll do, but I'll be looking for a different style of boot this time around.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fell apart way too quickly In the 6 months I had these boots they never did break in. They were tight, then way too loose and then the sole started coming apart between all the layers and the boots started leaking through the bottom. Threw them out. Tried another pair thinking I just got a "lemon" pair, same thing.
