Small eye gap, breathing holes, wind proof face
My husband came home from work yesterday with windburn on his face and hypothermia from the cold and the good old fashioned Canadian Wind Chill. I went on a shopping spree for him and bought one of these. He is just tickled pink with it.
Working outside, having a hinging hood that closes up nice around the eyes is super important. His old one didn’t and would cause gaps around the side of his face if he tried to pull it up around his nose higher to protect his cheeks. The mesh breathing holes, he finds quite nice and helps prevent excess moisture from building up. It’s a face mask, you’re a hot sack of humid air. There will always be moisture around the mouth of a balaclava. But the mesh makes a huge difference. It fits perfect, not too big, and not too tight, and he has a gigantic head. So he’s happy that it doesn’t cut off the circulation to his face.
