Thermalectric® Rechargeable Heated Full Zip Thermal Lined Hooded Sweatshirt

Description / What it’s For

This Dakota hooded sweatshirt is designed with a Thermalectric® rechargeable three-temperature heating system for protection in extremely cold working conditions. Heat panels are built into the left and right chest panels as well as the left and right back panel. USB 2.0 cables connect to the system’s power bank which is equipped with Quick Charge™ 2.0 technology. The power bank has two USB outputs, so you can charge your mobile device on the go while also heating the garment. Full details and instructions for the heating system are included with the sweatshirt. This sweatshirt is made of cotton-poly fleece and lined with a waffle knit fabric for added comfort. It has an attached three-piece hood and numerous zippered pockets, including a couple of hidden security pockets. Feel the heat when you wear this protective sweatshirt during all your winter activities.

Thermalectric® Rechargeable Heated Full Zip Thermal Lined Hooded Sweatshirt is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design While the jacket itself works relatively fine in providing warmth, there are design flaws that can't be overlooked. The most glaring is that the battery and the on/off/heat control are located inside the jacket. So to turn it on/off, or to adjust the heat setting, you have to UNZIP the jacket, allowing any heat that has accumulated to escape! Add in a snowy day with high winds and this is far from ideal. The second is that it is quite difficult to access the battery in the pocket/pouch provided. Unless you have the tiniest hands ever, you have to remove the battery from the pocket to use the controls, which is itself a chore since it barely fits through the zippered opening. I've ended up ripping the pocket to make it wider. . The third is the on/off function for the battery. A nice sliding switch would be nice - instead there's a pressure button which you have to press and hold for about 10 seconds in order to get the battery to shut off. Apparently this is to prevent the battery from accidentally being turned off. Well, it's a nuisance. Finally, still with the battery, is that the thing is HEAVY. It's like dragging around a hammer in your pocket. The one positive is that the jacket is quite comfortable (except for the aforementioned bulky, heavy battery). I received this jacket as a gift so I was gracious in accepting it. However, I would recommend shopping around for something a bit more user friendly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made for the price Good idea but poorly made. The battery malfunctioned on 2 different ones. I returned and bought a different hoodie with no battery heater.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not perfect but I like it I got this for Christmas and think it's great. The battery that comes with it is bulky and gets in the way of you bending over, but the shirt works with any QC 3.0 battery pack so I bought a couple of smaller ones and couldn't be happier. Even when it isn't powered on, it's a warm hoodie, but to get the most of the electric heat it needs to be form fitting. If it needs to be loose to be comfortable it won't work as well and you'll want to put a jacket over top to help press it against your body. I really like the collar, normally I wouldn't zip something with a collar all the way up because I find it uncomfortable but the design of this one doesn't bother me at all. It's no substitute for a warm jacket when it's -25 (which I've found out the hard way), but when I put it under even a regular non-bulky jacket it works great for me. The only other issue I've come across is that sometimes the shirt doesn't recognize that it's plugged into a QC 3.0 source and won't turn on (the LED doesn't stay on after blinking). This is usually remedied by unplugging and plugging back in. If you remember to turn it on before going outside it's not a big deal, but when you're out in the cold with everything unzipped so you can access the battery it can be pretty annoying.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good for toolbelts Bought this for my boyfriend who works outside. The battery is on the inside left pocket. Once he put his tool belt on he was not able to bend over

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible quality electrics.. I bought this for my wife for Christmas, no complaints on fabric quality or design there. However jacket was completely useless, never running for more then 5 mins max. After exchanging twice, had to return for refund due to extreme poor quality of Electrics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for me I really like this hoodie! The fit is nice. The collar took a bit of getting used to but it sure helps keep the heat in. The insulation is quite good for a hoodie. I used to double up my hoodies, I've never needed to do that with this one. The pockets. OMG so many pockets! I especially love the zipper pockets inside the front pockets. The heat isnt as good as other heated jackets I've worn but this is also lighter than most other heated jackets. It does help increase the heat enough for chilly walks to the bus stop but I wouldn't rely on just this to keep you warm in -30. My battery seemed to take FOREVER to charge. You really DO need to use the included charger (or a Qualcom QuickCharge 2 charger). It will charge with other chargers but.... not nearly as fast. Overall it took basically overnight to fully charge the batteries. If you don't use the included charger a recharge will take MUCH longer. The button placement is a little awkward, its easy to accidentally press it and change the heating modes without noticing. I kind of wish the battery were smaller like last year's jacket. The USB port on the battery is nice but not really needed. I wish the battery pocket was more in the back so it could be worn sitting down easier. I also wish I could buy more batteries, so far one battery has lasted me but I like having extras just in case. Obviously this hoodie is intended as a inner layer, putting a heavier outer layer really helps in VERY cold weather. Its not quite as nice as other brands, and maybe not as warm? But its quite comfortable and is the first heated hoodie I found that wears more like a hoodie than a jacket. The insulation in this jacket is pretty good, I often find it sufficient even without the heat, tho being able to turn the heat on now and then or for chillier walks helps a lot. I've done a 2 hour walk in this jacket and the battery was still quite full so no complaints there. I really like mine! I got it on sale for a really decent price. If you wear layers and want a heated base layer or take the bus / train and just want something to help keep the chill off this works really well. I wouldn't suggest it to someone who sits a lot in their job (machine operator, for instance) or someone working outside all day unless they have other layers on top of it. I wish the battery were smaller and placed better. i wish the heating on the back was better. I wish it had hand warmers in the pockets. Overall its pretty great but I think if you are not used to heated jackets you might find this underwhelming.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wont stay on!!! Got as a gift and love the dakota line until i got the heated sweatshirt. Work outdoors and thought would be comperable to the other heated clothes . 2 sweatshirts and 3 different batteries later and still the same issues . initially it worked great .. A couple days and the coat seeems to disconnect itself and shuts off . then i have to unplug and plug back in and this only helps for maybe 5 minutes and shuts off again ... Sad... It is a great fitting sweatshirt. The battery is a bit bulky. Wouldnt recommend ..sorry

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't stay on I literally went through three of these since Boxing Day, from three different Marks locations in Winnipeg and Selkirk. In each case, the sweater worked properly for a day or so, then refused to stay on after that (the red light on the USB port starts blinking and the sweater itself shuts off.) I don't think it's the battery, since it seems to charge other devices just fine. It's really too bad. The sweater design is great, fits well, and (when it worked) the heating function was fantastic. I liked the product a lot but I'm giving up on it after the third try.
