Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Boot I bought these years ago and I still have them. They aren't really comfortable for my feet, I should wear something with extra cushion which I bought but haven't used it yet, but good enough to wear them a whole working shift. These boot can be bulky if you have small feet or average feet size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Usually I have great things to say about Dakota boots, but not this pair. The material at the top of the boot has started to separate from the boot. Should have lasted a lot longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good boot I'm on my 2nd pair and after a year they are still holding up. My previous ones from 2008 lasted longer then the new model but werent as comfortable. I like the improvements such as the turantula grip and the tmax insulation, however the I find the soles tend to crack after a little while regardless of how hard you work. These boots are not waterproof. That doesnt mean you can't waterproof them. I rub them down with snow guard (bees wax) and I melt it in with a hair dryer. If you glue a plastic toe, do it before the bees wax. You can also add bead sealer wich may prevent the outer edge of the sole from cracking. I haven't tried a bead sealer yet. I got a year out of them so far and Im a contractor. I may get another 6 months or less as my soles are cracking see pictures. The upper black padding is starting to fall apart. But this doesnt change the comfort. The leather will last longer if you polish it. But its not required. The bees wax adds a nice shade to the unpolished leather but will be a bit greasy. Once you wipe all the excess wax you can add polish or just leave them with wax. They are extremely comfortable especially for wide feet. They are a bit heavy but not heavy to walk with. I always buy them on sale.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable. Not durable. I have been wearing these boots for a few years now. The older ones before the 'tarantula' tread seemed to last a bit longer, but still not great. The stitching in the tread under the toe wears through and then the tread pulls away from the boot. The foam stuff at the back of the boot starts to disintegrate in about 6 months. By 12 months the boots are completely shot. The toes will wear through but all boots without caps will. I like that the toes wont mark flooring when crawling around. But I keep buying them because they fit me perfect, very comfortable. Also have never had any of the stitching or eyelets fail.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not the quality i expected I have had these boots for just under a year and I'm not particularly happy with them. First off they lost their waterproofing within a couple of months so walking through puddles that were 1mm over the sole would result in soggy boots for the rest of the day. Not long after the black padding started failing and has failed on both boots in the last month, however I will point out that I like my boots fairly tight) I was expecting them to last at least 2 years especially since i feel the work i do with them isn't particularly that demanding on boots. for the good points; very comfortable (when not soggy), laces haven't broken

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor design At first I thought my sore legs were due to "break- in" period. But I found that if I reach in the boot and press the heal flat the rest of the sole (ball) comes 3/8" off the floor. I feel like I'm always walking down-hill. Very painful. Photo available if requested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dakota - STCP Quad 6" Work Boot Been buying these boots for a few years now. I find them very comfortable, wide enough to wear 2 pairs of socks with and they just feel good. How long they last depends on what you put them through I suppose. I ordered these boots on line and they were delivered in 2 days to my door. Doesn't get better then that..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from best boot ever.... but... absolutely love these boots, have been using them for years. super comfortable.. however, the toe always wears down and I get holes in the top.. I cannot find this exact boot with a dura-toe and it drives me crazy. I have seen 8" similar with dura toe but not the 6".. would give a perfect score if wasn't for that

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boots I have ever bought I bought these boots 3 years ago and the soles are just now starting to fall apart. They are super comfortable I wear them almost everywhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good boots! I read many reviews here and I simply just shake my head when people expect to get more than 16-24 months out of these boots... If you expect them to last you 3-5 years, you're insane Even the warranty through the retail store lasts a year and that is usually when i saw mine start to degrade. I work in a factory and I'm on my feet all day. Although I think these boots may just be overkill for what I do, I like the way they look and feel. I will definitely buy them again and again and again because I can make them last me at least 2 years... I'm currently on my second pair of them, into my 13th month and they are still in great shape, a little dark from wear obviously but that's to be expected The attached photo is after one year of use. Plus my work compensates me yearly with 100 dollars towards work boots. I'd only have to pay 50-60 out of pocket! HAHA!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great boots I got these boots for landscaping and they where good all around now I using them for welding and they are still good. they did turn a dark color and the insole came out. but after 45hour weeks from april to December I cant say anything bad about them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable The most comfortable boot I've very worn. Im on about my 8th pair of them. They seem to last me about 14-16 months before the soles come apart. If your in a lot of wet places they are probably not the boot your looking for but otherwise excellent boot.
Date published: 2015-12-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Comfortable work boots, but they don't last very long. The tops of the steel toes were worn through in 2 months and the stitching for the soles eventually came out a couple months later. Nice boots but they just don't last.
Date published: 2015-12-05
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Probably second worst pair of boots I've owned in 32 years in the trades. Do HVAC work and wanted a lighter summer boot instead of wearing a heavy winter boot year round to get longer life out of both sets. Sadly these won't be used again next spring. Even with waterproofing the first contact with water was a disaster. Just walking through standing water on rooftops resulted in wet feet all day. Rubber soles already have significant wear and I don't drag my feet. And the upper sole where it connects to the leather has already cracked in two separate areas on both boots. One at the bend point where your toes pivot, which I could understand maybe because I do a lot of bending and working on my knees. But also in the heal section where there's no pinching or bending. Even the padding at the top of the boot has cracked open. Unfortunately the other worst pair I've had were also a Dakota boot. I think I'm done giving them a chance. Unless you're doing light indoor factory work and just need to satisfy safety requirements. These boots aren't for trades use. 6 months lifespan and don't expect any real waterproofing, even with mink oil or simular.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good work boots I used it 6 months straight on cement work area. Going up and down. 5 days a week, 9 hours a day in an average of 9km a day. Still comfortable to the last day i wore it. Spikes are gone in 6 months. Fairly priced and comfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Friggin garbage!!!! Anyone who got a year out of these boots must work in an office and wear a skirt. They've started cracking in the sole and leaking after only five months, laces lasted three months. Slippery as snot on ice or in the cold, like having hockey pucks on your feet. Never buying them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best work boots I have worn, ever. Just a quick review. I am a machinist, so I work in dirty conditions on my feet all day. I bought these about 5 years ago and it's only now that I am thinking about buying a new pair. Only now is parts of the sole coming loose and the foam ankle is worn out. The leather is in great condition and they are just as comfortable as new.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has slipped Used these style boots for 6 years now without issue. Always lasted 15-18 months. Not anymore. As so many other reviewers have said these don't last now. Sole ripped right off after 8-1/2 month. I saw the new version....seems they think a row of stitching on the bottom of the toe will hold them together. Sorry, won't ever buy again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Last These boots are mostly comfortable, there is little to no padding where the steel toe is, so I would jam my toes against the steel a lot, the soles are comfortable though. After about 3 months of regular use the leather on the toe started to wear out; after 5 months the leather wore away enough that the steel toe actually fell out of my boot. The Price of these boots do not match the quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was a comfortable boot but it didn't last When I first bought these boots I loved them because they so comfortable. Unlike many others, the steel toe and sole could not be felt, summer or winter. Unfortunately, like many others reported, these boots don't last. In my case the sole ripped away from the boot at heel after the stitching start to let go (see attached photo). When the defect first appeared a few months ago my initial plan was to buy another pair just like them because they did last over two years and they were so comfortable. However, I cannot bring myself to do that after seeing the new price (I paid $129.99 for them in Nov '11) and how common problems with the sole are.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good boots with a short life span. As far as boots go, they are visually appealing and when you first wear them, they are very comfortable and easy to wear for long periods of time. However, after a couple months, the soles began to de-laminate at the yellow striping. This did not affect overall comfort or usage, but was displeasing having bought them not long before. I have been tough on laces with my boots, but these pair chewed them up much faster than my previous boots (of a different brand) - averaging new ones almost every month, until I bought Kevlar laces. After 18 months, the tread on the soles and the comfort and stability of the boots after purchase was mostly gone. Finally, after about the 30 month mark, the boots have ripped free of the sole making them totally unusable. If one is looking for a decent pair of boots that are comfortable and one does not plan on owning them or using them for more than 18-24 months, then these are a good buy. If one is looking for something with more durability, then money is best spent on different boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Destroyed 2 pairs of these in 14 months. I found these boots very comfortable and I liked the look of them a lot. But about 8 months into my first pair entire soul (bottom part of the boot) ripped off. I thought this was just a fluke, so I bought a brand new pair. 6 months later the exact same thing happened with my new pair. Very disappointed, these are not real work boots.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Soles ripped apart These boots don't last, wore them for 6 months when the soles opened up on the seams, will never buy dakota again as last pair of boots had problems also.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from steel toe issues Nice looking boots and comfortable if worn for short periods at a time. There is very little fabric covering the metal plate on the inside, and it wore out in less than a couple months. You could actually feel the exposed metal when I stuck my hand inside the boot. Caused the top of my toes to bleed/bruise. Seems like this line of Dakota are similarly constructed when I went back to the store and felt inside a few pairs of the same boot. I'm hoping they can fix this problem in the future, as I liked everything else about this boot, and I've been wearing steel toe boots for almost 10 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent traction on roof plywood I'm on my 12th or 13th pair now (to many to keep track) and find these are the best boot out there for comfort and awesome traction on framing houses, i can sheet 10/12 pitch spruce roofs with out nailing kickers on the roof. They are getting cheaper quality through the years but still perform for what I need, one down fall is when you step on a nail or something sharp and walk on wet floors or roads the boot will leak but its hard to find something perfect these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from on my 3rd pair Only boots that dont hurt my flat feet. could do without the yellow stripe, I rub grease on it or marker to get rid of it.
