One of the best rain suits I've ever owned

I've owned several sets of rain gear over the past 40 or so years for work and sport. Overall, I'd rate the Viking one of the best I've worn. It is virtually windproof and other than getting rain on my neck (when a gust of wind blew the hood off my head# I have never got noticeably wet. I tournament fish in the spring and fall and have been out in the rain, sometimes very heavy and windy, for 10 hours at a time and this suit keeps me dry and warm. Several of my fishing competitors have bought Viking coats and pants since seeing mine and are also very happy with the performance. And, I will be buying another this spring #never hurts to have an extra#. As for the guy whose jacket and pants leaked #see other review), you may have gotten a bad set; I would have asked to have it replaced.

I love it and it is the second red Tempest rain jacket that I've had. I walk a lot and like the red because it is so visible to traffic. I wore the first one out. I also have a blue Tempest that I wear occasionally.

    Pros:
    Lightweight,
    Easily Cleaned,
    Good Construction
    Fit

    Very Poor Performance

I bought my first Viking water proof shell, it was theTsunami line, about 10+ years ago. I thought it was the best rain jacket I owned. It eventually lost its water proof quality and wouldn't keep me dry so I recently bought another one. It is completely useless as a rain jacket. It's nothing more than a wind breaker but will NOT keep you dry. Very disappointed with this product, a complete waste of money. This is quite unfortunate because the design is very good.

I'd rather face the rain in a tshirt and jeans

I always end up wet in this jacket. Either the rain works it's way through or I sweat so bad I'd have been further ahead without it. The ventilation is so bad that I see no benefit over an old fashioned yellow PVC rain suit. The inside liner is so thin it rips.

    Good while it lasted

Fabric wears thru at rub points. Tears easily. Plastic zipper didn't stand up. Pulls apart and hard to start. Hard to clean. I will stay away from Viking.

Zipper broke less than a year old - DON'T TOUCH!!!

Bought this jacket, worked great for 8 months then the zipper broke rendering it useless - Marks weren't interested. To be fair, it isn't Marks' fault but the manufacturer should be held accountable for the quality. It's simply not fit for the purpose intended, Not worth the price - DON'T BUY THIS JACKET!
