This is my third one in 25 years. The old coat is perfectly fine for all chores just isn't presentable anymore. The new collar is weird. Not sure what is different about the filler. Don't know why this one doesn't have the snaps for the hood. I never used that feature but wondered why the change.
It does not appear the quality in construction / stitching has changed.

This coat is a great shell for layering. It keeps the wind and cold out. The only thing I did not care for was velcro closures on the chest pockets but it does make it easier for access with gloved hands. The zipper is heavy duty. This coat was made for working in frigid temperatures. It is a great quality coat and will last me a long time. I'm happy with my purchase.

The coat will stand in a corner on its own when u first get it but, once broke in it's the warmest coat for working outside in the dead of winter. I've had several of this exact coat. Last one lasted me over 25 years until my dog got a hold of it. Lol
