It's a great light jacket and very warm. One of my favorites of all my Carhartt jackets. I would recommend it to others.

Does the JOB! Feels nice and looks GREAT!

Outstanding Jacket! Took it with on on several rainy and cold trips up north this year, and am hoping to grab another one in a different color soon :) I have a few other down-style jackets that don't shed water very well. Carhartt really nailed achieving both applications well with this. I own a farmhouse property in a pretty rough area as far as weather goes, so this will come in handy for 3/4 months per year. I really like the fit. I am 5'8" and 150lbs - athletic build 28w/40c- and medium has a generous but not too oversized fit. I could wear it with or without mid-layers underneath. I ended up buying the green color which gives it a nice outdoor vibe and also a nice look for a more urban appeal. Being somebody that's a little bit more concerned with my overall look, I am very happy with this in terms of function and overall style as well. Great job guys!!!

Nice fit, warm & dry

I ordered an XL Tall based on some comments that the regular size was slightly short. Glad I did, it fit's perfectly without any riding up in the back. Sleeves still fit nicely, so not excessively long - I'm a 35 sleeve. Warm and dry - perfect!

Exactly what it purports to be-an awesome jacket!

So this is going to sound like a strange review coming in the middle of July for something called the Rain Defender, but I bought this several months ago, and consider that I live in Portland, Oregon, but I have to say this is precisely what I needed. It is a great garment. It's light, it is definitely water, repellent, and the only thing that I would say is that it might be just a little bit too warm, because in urban settings, where there is quite a bit of drizzle, you're not necessarily cold, but you wanna be insulated from the rain. This thing is warm. I'm surprised they don't supply it to NASA astronauts! Anyway, I'm very satisfied with this garment and if you buy it, get it in the matte green! It's really a cool color and I get a lot of compliments!

Superb function.

This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. There is nothing about this jacket that I don't like. Bravo Carhartt!
