Super warm winter coat

Super warm, but wish I'd ordered a smaller size. It seems to run a little big.

HIghly recommend for cold/wet climates

I've had this jacket for a couple of years and it's very warm. Temperature-wise, my area can get down to 0F to -10F in the winter, and this jacket can handle that level of cold no problem. It is also great in windy weather with wind chills up to -30F and heavy snow/rain, so I feel it is a tremendous value for this temperature rating. I found the jacket somewhat stiff and bulky in the first few months of wear, and once it softened up it's been super-comfortable. Only semi-annoying thing is the zipper - it is well-constructed but it occasionally sticks a bit at the bottom for me.

Super satisfied with the purchase!
  • It's excellent for temperatures in Vail in winter!! I used it for outdoor activities and 10/10.

So warm and love all the pockets! Hood covers well, sleeves fit close enough to wear gloves.

Daughter loves her jacket

Daughter wanted a Northface jacket, I seen this and said this was better. She loves it. Says its better then northface. She had spilt some of her coffee but it just beaded right off and didn't stain. She says its very warm and comfortable fit.

Perfect for cold weather!

I love the Montana puffer! It definitely keeps you warm. I was working on my homestead the other morning and I actually had to take clothes off because I got too warm with it on! The only thing, I didn't realize it was a rain defender series...so it is more of that type of material. I am worried I'm going to rip it when working around certain things. Other than that I recommend it! Especially if you work out in the cold or want to stay warm in the cold!

Warm and cozy

Love this Carhartt Montana jacket! It is great on my walks in 15- 30 degree weather, and for snow blowing or shoveling. At that temperature I am happy walking downhill . If I get too warm on a long uphill I just unzip it and I am fine. It fits true to size and is much more flattering to the female form than my son's Montana jacket I was borrowing. I am 5'6" and 165pounds carried in my bust and waist. It is slightly tight in the armholes, because of where my weight but I don't have to wear much under it, just a t shirt, and it's still warm. A thin or medium weight will fit too . It doesn't look too tight, and as I lose more weight I don't have to worry about a bulky look later. I plan to use it for a long time. It is a good investment in warmth here in North Idaho.

Q: Is this a winter jacket?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, Yes, it is a winter jacket. Carhartt has 4 warmth classifications, and this falls into the "Extreme Warmth" bucket. "A rating of EXTREME WARMTH means it works where weather thermometers quit. Delivering our highest level of warmth for plowing through unbearably cold conditions and record low temps. To date, our Yukon Extremes series is among the few to ever reach Level 4 – the rating reserved for the warmest gear we make."
