2-Way Zipper Fails and Splits Open

I was so excited to have this vest. Purposely purchased 1 size too large so that it would fit comfortably over bulky sweaters. But the 2-way zipper failed on day 2 - got it back in order, but each day continues to fail and split open at the button and I do realize that it's designed to open both ways, but this one splits open when not asking for it. Thought maybe I didn't secure the zipper position enough, but nope, just a failing zipper.
