A classic leather work boot from Dakota, this style is insulated for cold weather wear. They support your feet with four comfort components addressing shock absorption, weight distribution, cushioning and pressure displacement. Tough TPU and Kevlar reinforced, molded quarter panels lend an extra layer of protection over the ankles. These men's work boots meet CSA Grade 1 requirements for toe and underfoot protection. They're also electric shock resistant. Bottomed out with Tarantula Anti-Slip® rubber outsoles, these boots provide the ultimate in slip protection by reducing the likelihood that you'll slip or fall on wet and/or greasy surfaces.

I gave 3 stars because quality isn't there the threading or stitching let's go after a year of use I've had the sole let go that I glued it back on with shoe goop but it is comfortable

Great-work boots, light weight comfortable, the hooks are important, allow quick removal when going in and out of houses, rather than having to feed through the eyelets.

Pros and cons

We bought these boots twice now. The boots were comfortable and easy to break in. Definitely shock proof. However, the first pair, after a year started to break down. The heel began breaking down so that one was virtually hollow! The seams began to break down and come apart. We even oiled them when we first got them with mink oil and at times thereafter. Because they are affordable and easy to break in, we bought another pair. We are hoping this second pair lasts longer!

If you usually buy the 8817, try these

My son loves the 8817 version of this boot, a pair a year for the past 5 years. His love of this boot comes from it's availability, usually always in stock at ur store,in his size. They really aren't great boots, sole separation and heel issues with his old pairs, also these tend to wear out from the inside first, the inner lining is almost now completely gone, especially at the heel end. He also doesn't like the toes have no scuff guard on this boot. He tolerates all these faults because of comfort. He has a wide foot, and these provide the wide sizing and comfort for all day, daily use. He found these on the boxing day sale and purchased the last pair in stock at our store. Same comfort as his old 8817's but now with the toe guard and better quality laces. If you lean to comfort over longevity, this wide fitting comfortable boot might be for you as well.
