Best summer hat I've ever owned.

Five stars for comfort alone. It's so comfortable that when I come inside I sometimes forget I'm wearing it (unlike my ball caps and fabric sun hats which I can't wait to get off my head). It's not perfect; the very top blocks the sun with a piece of light fabric under the straw, but the sides let the sun in. That's no concern if you have hair, but it gives my follically challenged head a distinctive tan line, and on high UV days my scalp gets sunscreen selectively applied. It lets some sun through to ears and nose, not too much for my swarthy complexion, but be aware if you're fair skinned. Also, probably wouldn't like being stuffed in a backpack or suitcase, so maybe not the best for traveling. I've worn mine constantly for 2 long, hot summers, and it's holding up well, except for the sweatband which I was just looking for how-to-replace instructions online when I came across this review site.

This hat was a huge disappointment. Very thin material and the height of the hat from the braid to the top is not like the picture - it is about half that high - it looked like it must have been squashed - but it was not damaged - that is just the way it was made. It was returned
