Permanent wear marks after first wash.

I’ve been wearing jeans for decades and have laundered them in large loads with other clothes of various fabric types, small load with other clothing, and occasionally on their own, and I’ve never had this happen. Both pair of the Levi jeans came out of my ten year old washing machine after being washed with permanent, highly visible, horizontal evenly spaced wear marks across the top fifth of the denim fabric.
The jeans are as well made in terms of stitching, design and fit as any other pair of Levi’s I’ve ever worn or purchased from Mark’s but something must have changed in the way their denim is dyed to make them highly susceptible to washing wear marks.
In my research, this kind of damage isn’t unusual and the recommendation is to always launder jeans inside out.
This should be noted somewhere in the product packaging
