Comfortable shoes - size down

I have many pairs of Converse (all different sizes). My "normal" shoe size is 8.5-9.0 and I bought an 8.0 in these Chucks (so size down). They are leather and very comfortable (more comfortable than the canvas version). They are also slightly less wide than the unisex version. Very happy with the colour as well - it's a very light grey.

leather winter Converse

These Converse are a nice weight, and fit well. I love that they are leather. They should be warm up until the heavier snow comes. The grips will be too slippery once there is ice/hard pack.

Converse mid rise leather winter shoes

I love that these shoes are leather. I wish the top piece at the heel was also leather as opposed to the fabric it is.
The light grey is a nice colour. Won't show the dirt the same as white.
These shoes fit comfortably, and are true to size.
I am worried about the sole tread pattern however. I was expecting maybe a little more heavy duty or lugged or something for winter. My regular Converse are so slippery in winter. These are the same treads, so I don't have a lot of confidence that they will be non-slippery in the inclement weather.
They are very lightly lined so I would say they won't be warm when it gets really cold, or suitable in deep snow. In a location like Toronto when they don't get much snow they will probably be fine to wear all year, but in Northern Ontario these will not replace winter boots on a snowy day.
Having said that, I do however really like these winter Converse mid rise shoes.
