Product Details

From Helly Hansen, these Lockdown winter boots are built tough and ready for frigid weather. They have a waterproof rubber shell and a waterproof leather shaft. The removable heat-moldable technical liner system is cold rated to minus 50 degrees Celsius. These boots are easy to get on thanks to the oversized pull loop at the back. HEAT-MOLDABLE TECHNICAL LINER SYSTEM Molding these liners to your unique feet is easy. Put the boot liner inside the boot. Place a preheated microwaveable heat bag inside the boot liner, pushing it right up to the toe area. Leave it in the boot liner for 5 minutes. Remove the heated pack and pull on the boot, lacing it up snugly. Keep the boot on for a further 5 minutes. Alternatively, heat the boot liner by blowing hot air into the liner using a hair dryer for 3-5 minutes. DO NOT PLACE LINER IN MICROWAVE

Not what I expected

A bit disappointed with the fit, Tight for a Size 9 The cold weather rating is overrated, I had cold toes at -4C, so , -30 to-50 would be optimistic at best,,,Having said that, a very nice looking boot, I like the haul up straps..I may try a different liner as I need these for cold weather work during the upcoming Maple Syrup Season..

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not sure about the sole, sealant issue.

The sole itself seems a little thin and may wear down pretty fast. There are gaps between the sole and the upper sole where it hasn't been sealed properly 🤔 Sizing is definitely small. I wouldn't have been happy been paying full price as they looked damaged / used when I received them .

Yes, I recommend this product.

Fatal flaw: the laces

The boots are almost great. My regular size fits well, they're very warm. The loop at the back is helpful for pulling them on, the heel ridge is helpful for pushing them off... but the laces make them a disaster. Firstly, there is a long dangling string with a plastic thing on them, which you need to tuck into your boots, which makes them open a bit more and more likely to get snow in them (plus it's just annoying). But also the system means that not if but WHEN a lace breaks, the boots are basically ruined. There's no way to replace them. And even if you think they'll last long enough, they're also impossible to pull tight (without breaking them), so in my case my heel slips even though they're quite snug everywhere else. If I could just tie them properly this wouldn't happen. So, if they had proper laces they'd be amazing boots, but as-is I really regret buying them and am already looking for a replacement.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Warm and comfy, has some drawbacks

Very comfortable boot, and not clunky or heavy despite their large size. Traction seems good. Can't comment on the waterproofness but they look like they would stand up to slush and water. These boots use a ski boot type liner so they feel snug - consider going up a size, however for me going up a size made the boot feel a bit loose. Try them on as this element may be a deal breaker - too snug at your regular size, too loose a size up. Lacing system uses a metal cam lock to hold the laces after you pull them tight. The result is a very long loose lace end that needs to be tucked somewhere so you don't trip on it. Loosening the laces is a bit cumbersome as you have to hold this now freezing cold metal cam (with sharp edges) open with one hand and pull the laces loose with the other. Not a great lacing system. Boots are easy to get on with big pull straps but a bit hard to get off with the liner coming out of the boot sometimes. Overall a warm, robust boot, with some quirky features that should be considered.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Worth every penny

Not only are my feet dry, but warm and comfortable as well. A strong sturdy winter boot built for the cold snow filled days of a Canadian winter. Worth every penny spent on them, even though they were on sale.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: how to replace the laces.

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, the laces are attached to the boot which makes it very difficult to replace them without replacing the boot entirely. I suggest reaching out to our Customer Service team to see how they can help. Hope this helps.
