This is the second pair that I have purchased. True to size, warm and great on slippery and icy surfaces. My first pair stood up really well, so there was no question about which brand I would buy again!

Love the style, love the fit, love the warmth, though if snow gets stuck in the treads then it can still be slippery. I hike a lot and love playing in the snow. These are perfect for all my winter activities.

Warm, Stylish, and Reliable Winter Boots

The WindRiver Ice Queen Boots are warm, sturdy, and stylish. The T-Max insulation keeps my feet toasty, and the IceFX grip gives great traction on ice. They’re waterproof and handle snow well, though a bit stiff at first. The taupe color is a nice neutral. Great winter boots overall!

Truly Built for Life in Canada!

I've had these boots for quite a few years now, and figured that I should finally take a moment to leave a review. The primary reason why I ended up buying these boots was on recommendation from my family after seeing a CBC review on good winter boots. No matter where you go in BC there always seems to be some phase of the winter season where it's cold and icy so these boots have been just the ticket. They have put up with a lot of wear over the years, and I have been so impressed with how warm and grippy they are. I have received many compliments on their looks, and they are my go to for literally all my outdoor winter activities. I go to the office, run errands, shovel the driveway in them and play around with our dog in the backyard with them on. In no way have I babied them and they have done brilliantly. At this point, the only thing that is starting to fail is the laces, which is fair as they get the most wear and tear, so I'll be replacing those after this winter. I think my only recommendation for future versions would be going to a basic lacing system with hooks at the top and away from the plastic clasp. The clasp is really quick for throwing them on, which I can appreciate, but I find I'm constantly tucking the extra length into the boots to keep the laces from flopping around. (That might just be personal preference.) Both I and my family found that they fit smaller, so my mom and sister got a size 8 women's and I went with a size 9. I wear between a size 7.5 to 8.5 typically, so the size 9 fits well with good winter socks. So for sizing, it is likely best to pop into a store if you are concerned at all.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  1. What size should I get if I’m a 39EU

    1 answer
    1. Thank you for reaching out. Depending on what type of fit you like I would suggest getting a size 9 if you like a roomier fit or a size 8 if you prefer the fit to be more snug. Hope this helps.

  2. My pair of black boots is very comfortable. In contrast, the taupe boots are quite stiff; is that normal?

  3. I bought these boots in black in 2021 and have lived in them. I did not use any treatment and they were just fine. With the taupe boots, do I need to use some protection to ensure the snow/slush does not stain it?

  4. How do you clean the faux fur lining? Particularly because I got a pair of blue pants & didn't realize they weren't pre-washed so now the faux fur is a little bit blue....

  6. Would it be a good idea to spray these boots with a protector?

  7. I am usually a half size so sized up. The boots still feel tight on one foot at the toes. Has anyone else found that these boots stretch in time?

    1 answer
    1. Hello,

While you will get a bit of break in on these boots, if your toes are cramped right now, I would suggest sizing up. In winter boots you want room to wiggle your toes. Tight toes are cold toes... is a good rule of thumb.

  8. Are these boots lightweight or on the heavier side?

    1 answer
    1. Hello,

The size 9 I have here weighs 735g/boot. They are fairly lightweight for that type of product.

  9. What is the rubber sole made of? I am looking for something that is TPU (thermal polyurethane/thermoplastic urethan).

    1 answer
    1. Hello,

This is a natural rubber outsole. It has our ICEFX technology in it for enhanced traction on ice. These boots are independently tested and achieve one snowflake. Ratings can be found at the link below.
