[Employee of columbia] Honestly for the value this is the warmest winter coat I have ever owned. Got me through several winters in the north east. Washes easily too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] overall happy with the parka after second season. after taking to Germany & Austria and then blowing snow for an hour I'm still warm. only issue I've come across is after a few weeks of wearing, a zipper broke off and I can't zip up a pocket

Inadequate insulation of upper back area

I purchased this product in April of 2025 at the end of the winter season.
This year weather conditions in South Western Ontario warranted my trying out this new parka.
Conditions are 16C, feels like -27C with blowing snow and breezy wind.
I went for usual walk, cleared snow from our car, and shovelled the driveway.
I was wearing a T-shirt, long sleeved shirt, Helly Hansen hooded jacket under my Columbia parka with a toque, hoods up. Based on prior experience with a Columbia hoodie with special heat reflective treatment, I was expecting to be toasty warm in my new parka.
I Am Disappointed inasmuch as I felt cold across the upper back and shoulders.
With the “OMNI-HEAT” lining, I had expected to feel warm and comfortable. I was not.
I had specifically chosen this parka as I like to be out in winter conditions shoveling snow, snow-blowing and helping neighbours.
For now, I will have to use my light weight PAJAR jacket (which I adore) as a LINER for my COLUMBIA parka.
As an active senior, I was expecting better.

Good winter jacket but not worth the price

The jacket is good for the -24C that I could check it for. That part is good.
But I had two reservations.
1. The colours are not true to the pictures. I ordered both the Green and Black to try and keep one. The pockets in both should have been slightly lighter in colour than the background; that is what attracted me. But there was barely any difference, and the jacket looked like a plain, single-coloured winter coat. Secondly, if I had to buy a plain old jacket I can buy as cheaper one from Mountain Warehouse or something. They are warm too.
