I rarely find a pair of pants with a large enough leg to waist ratio. The much more expensive athletic outdoor brands typically wet out before these. Gotta pick your poison.

Decent Rain pants

The rain pants are great for standup jobs but if they ride down while on a sit down job, you’ll be getting a little wet from the runoff of your raincoat. If you need something like this because your pants might get a little wet on the job then these are perfect, no moisture seeping through them at all so far, even in torrential downpours.

Our Hyper-Dri HD3 garments, including the WindRiver HD3 Men’s pants, are designed with a outer shell fabric that has a waterproof barrier laminated to the underside. This shell fabric is also treated with a PFAS-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish and meets our highest standards for water resistance and breathability, with all seams sealed on garment to ensure you stay dry. Products with Hyper-Dri HD3 technology are also our highest performing products in terms of waterproof and breathability ratings. A: Thank you for your question. Yes these pants do include a mesh lining for the upper portion of the garment and a taffeta lining for the lower legs. Please see the inside out diagram for the detail. Hope that helps!

Q: When I wear these pants in a downpour then turn them inside out I can see moisture seeping through the outer material, I didn't sweat. Is this normal? They are brand new so does this make them defective? Do they ever need DWR applied?

A: Thank you for your question. Our internal teams provided the following response to your inquiry, Thank you for being a valued customer of Mark’s. We appreciate you reaching out with your concerns. All our HD3 garments, including the WindRiver HD3 Men’s pants you purchased, feature a shell fabric with a waterproof barrier laminated to the underside. Additionally, this shell fabric is treated with a PFAS-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. While PFAS-free DWRs are considered a safer chemical alternative, they do provide lower water repellency and no oil repellency. You might notice that water does not bead off the fabric as effectively and that the inside of the fabric may feel cold to the touch, but rest assured, the pants are still designed to keep you dry and protected from rain. All our HD3 garments meet our stringent water resistance and breathability standards, with all seams sealed to keep you dry. For optimal DWR performance, we recommend washing your rain pants as needed to keep them clean and maintain their effectiveness. Avoid using softeners during laundering and consider adding an extra rinse cycle to remove any detergent residue. You can also tumble dry them on a low setting (with or without washing) to help restore functionality. Over time, you may need to renew the DWR with a wash-in or spray-on application. Q: Since one size never fits all, why would you put a lower zipper on pants that may have to shortened a bit?

A: Thank you for your feedback. The BELOW KNEE TO ANKLE ZIPPER WITH ADJUSTABLE VELCRO TABS allows for venting and/or easier on/off action with larger footwear. Although this is intended to be a feature to enhance ease of use, we do recognize that this poses a challenge in making alterations difficult and we apologize for that.
